Chapter 4: The Powers of a Mystic Knight

The Black Shadow militia leader slowly stood up from the attack that Geoffrey unleashed on him and his soldiers.
"Who the heck are you!?" bellowed the now angry militia leader towards Geoffrey.

"A mystic knight" replied Geoffrey.

"A…mystic…knight?" whispered Wispy to herself.

"A likely story, but your just like any other human in this world…WEAK!" exclaimed the militia leader as his soldiers began to stand up again. "You will die just like every other one!" As the militia leader said this, he began to gather dark energy in his left claw and then sent it directly flying at Geoffrey in a burst of purple colored lighting. Geoffrey charged toward the attack at full speed and as the attack approached him he put his left hand in front of him, summoning a magical barrier as well. The lighting was absorbed by the barrier and Geoffrey was still able to keep up his momentum towards the militia leader.

As Geoffrey neared the militia leader, the same dragon he was fighting with tried to attack him with one of his claws. Geoffrey dodged the attack easily and jumped on top of the militia leader's tail.

"Hey, get off!" exclaimed the militia leader as he tried to swing Geoffrey off of his tail. The swing went towards one of the militia leader's soldiers who were waiting in case Geoffrey tried to attack from his end. But because of the speed from the militia leader's tail the soldier had no chance to block an attack from Geoffrey. Geoffrey ran his sword into the soldier's chest like a spear, piercing the armor at that was protecting the soldier at the same time, his sword stuck in his chest like glue. Geoffrey jumped off the militia leader's tail as the soldier he pierced fell to the ground. The other soldiers began to surround him quickly but Geoffrey surrounded his arms in fire and began to throw fire balls at each of the Black Shadow dragons that surrounded him.

The soldiers took several damaging hits from Geoffrey's fireball barrage but were still able to charge at Geoffrey at full speed. Geoffrey quickly jumped over the charging dragons, turned around while charging fire energy in his right hand, and then slammed his fist into the middle of the dragons that tried to skewer him on their horns causing a large explosion to erupt causing all of them to fall down instantly. Geoffrey then reclaimed his sword from the dragon soldier he defeated earlier.

"Mages! Hold him down!" exclaimed the militia leader angrily. As Geoffrey heard the militia leader's words he quickly turned toward the leader in surprise. Geoffrey saw two dragon soldiers that actually seemed more intelligent than the rest. The dragons summoned shadows from their claws which were being sent towards Geoffrey. Geoffrey quickly recalled seeing Wispy trapped in a shadowy mist and realized that those two were trying to do the same thing to him. Geoffrey quickly dodged the initial attack of the shadows but the shadows continued to follow him.

"Darn, it's a homing attack" said Geoffrey to himself as he dodged the second attack from the shadows. Wispy was watching the battle from where she was.

"He seems to be having trouble. I don't think he will be able to take out these guys by himself" said Wispy to herself. The rest of the Black Shadow militia soldiers charged towards Geoffrey while he was busy fighting off the shadows. The dragon mages and militia leader were fixated on Geoffrey the whole time. The mages had to concentrate on holding the shadow spell in place or else it would stop which was a flaw in all spells as Wispy knew. "I see, so they have completely forgotten about me huh?" As Wispy said this she unleashed an air blast on the mages and militia leader. The attack sent all three of them flying to the ground as the shadow spell disappeared into thin air. Surprised by the disappearance of the spell Geoffrey turned his attention toward the Black Shadow soldiers. Geoffrey froze all of the charging dragons in a barrage of ice and then dashed through all of them, cutting every one of them in one slash of his sword.

"How dare you interfere with this battle!" exclaimed the militia as he turned his attention towards Wispy. The militia leader unleashed his fire breath upon Wispy. Wispy quickly dodged the attack and then ran towards him and swept him off his feet with a tail swipe. She then rammed him with her powerful horns sending the militia leader to the ground. Wispy then slammed her claw around the dragon's neck.

"Mages! Get this dragoness off me!" cried the militia leader. But instead of a confirmation from his mages he got a sword come two centimeters from his head. Geoffrey stood above him in triumph.

"You know, you shouldn't allow yourself to be flanked like that, it doesn't really end well" said Geoffrey calmly.

"Why you…" said the militia leader as he began grinding his teeth. "I'm not through yet!" exclaimed the militia leader as the bodies of his soldiers turned into shadow and began to attach themselves to the militia leader. At the sight of this Wispy's and Geoffrey's eyes widened.

"Wispy get away from him now!" shouted Geoffrey as he and Wispy quickly moved away from the militia leader right before he shrouded in a dark energy. The burst of the dark energy made everyone in the area stagger a bit. When Geoffrey could look straight again, he saw the militia leader transformed into a dragon that was pulsating with dark energy. The dragon grew at least ten feet from his normal form and his eyes were completely red.

"Die!" exclaimed the militia leader as he shot a giant ball of shadow at Geoffrey and Wispy. Wispy braced for the attack while Geoffrey brought up a magical barrier in hopes of absorbing the attack. Unfortunately however the barrier only absorbed a minor amount of the attack as Geoffrey and Wispy took severe damage from the attack that hit them as both of them fell to the ground.

"What's the matter? Can't handle the power of the dark dragon king!" laughed the militia leader. Wispy and Geoffrey slowly stood up again.

"You may be powerful but you don't belong in this town! Leave, now!" exclaimed Wispy as she summoned a large tornado under the militia leader. The surprised militia leader began to feel himself get taken away by the tornado by managed to catch a set of rocks with his tail allowing him to safely come back down to the ground. The militia leader then dug his claws into the ground allowing him to stay grounded.

"Nice try, but I'm not going anywhere until everyone here bows before my king!" exclaimed the militia leader. Wispy began to struggle with keeping up the tornado.

"There has to be some way to get him off of the ground" said Wispy.

"Leave it to me" said Geoffrey as he jumped into the center of the tornado to Wispy's astonishment. As Geoffrey fell to the bottom of the tornado he began to charge fire in his left palm. The militia leader upwards toward Geoffrey in fright as he tried to attack him with shadow balls. Geoffrey dodged the attacks in mid air until he reached the ground. When he did, flames erupted around him causing the tornado to turn into a giant swirling inferno. The militia leader was rapidly being burned away in the fire tornado until he finally let go of the ground him sending him flying into the air at an incredible speed. As soon as he reached the peak of his ascent from the attack, Geoffrey rushed at him in the air and slashed right through him and his armor. The darkness left the militia leaders body as he fell to the ground. Geoffrey landed right next to him safely with barely a scorch mark on him.

The sun began to shine brighter than usual this time of day as the dragons cheered for the heroes that saved them. Geoffrey sheathed his sword and started walking away from the town.

"Hey where do you think you're going?" said Wispy as she put a claw around Geoffrey's shoulder. "Everyone here wants to say their thanks to you for saving them." Geoffrey remained silent as he continued to walk away. Wispy didn't like Geoffrey ignoring her like he did so she wrapped her tail around Geoffrey and dragged him back to the place where the battle took place.

"Gah!" yelled Geoffrey. "What's the big idea for."

"You were the one who decided to ignore me. Besides you helped saved all of these people. Don't you want to at least allow them to meet you" said Wispy.

"Nope" said Geoffrey.

"Eh!?" said Wispy shocked. "Oh come on!"

"Hey I didn't want to save a bunch of dragons in the first place" said Geoffrey.

"Eh!?" said Wispy shocked for a second time. "Then why did you any way!"

"I don't know" replied Geoffrey while scratching his nose.
"Ugh, how in the world did this guy ever become a mystic knight?" thought Wispy.

"Well, since I answered your questions, I best be leaving now" said Geoffrey as he walked towards the exit of the city a second time. But as soon as he walked two inches he was blocked off by the city guards.

"There, I found the human!" said the guard captain as he pointed towards Geoffrey.

"Ugh, this bozo is so annoying" thought Geoffrey as the guards approached him. Masky came up beside Wispy as well.

"You okay Wispy?" asked Masky.

"Yeah I'm fine but…" said Wispy but was cut off by Masky.

"Don't worry; we'll get this human behind bars in no time. His days for causing destruction and panic in our fair city are numbered" said Masky.

"Ha, thought you can escape us human?" asked the guard captain.

"No, I thought I could outrun you seeing how much you love mutton so" said Geoffrey.

"He didn't just say that" said Wispy shocked.

"He didn't just say that" said Masky shocked along with Wispy.

"Are you implying what I think you're implying?" asked the guard captain with a glare in his eye.

"Maybe? What's it to you?" asked Geoffrey.

"Augghhhh!" yelled the guard captain as he tried to pound Geoffrey into the ground with one of his claws. Geoffrey dodged the attack like it was nothing and continued to taunt the guard at how slow he was which eventually started a game of whack-a-mole between the two of them. Wispy and Masky stared at the show being displayed for them in shock.

"That guy is funny!" said Firen as he came beside Wispy and Masky along with Sylaine and her mother.

"Um, yep he is" said Wispy as she laughed a little.

"Why are you laughing? That man is dangerous! Look what he did to this place" said Masky.

"Actually he didn't really do this" said Wispy.

"What?" asked Masky.

"A group from the Black Shadow did this. He actually help save everyone from them" said Wispy as she pointed toward Geoffrey.

"Really?" asked Masky.

"Yeah, he really did save us" said Sylaine's mom.

"He even say mommy!" exclaimed Syalaine.

"Whoa there big fella I need to take a break" said Geoffrey as he held up the guard captain's fist with a barrier. As he did so he grabbed a canteen from his small bag that he carried with him and drunk from it. The soldiers were quite amazed at the fact that a human knew how to use magic.

"On top of that, he's a mystic knight" said Wispy.

"You got to be kidding me" said Masky.

"Well it's the truth" said Wispy. "He isn't very interested in helping dragons out but he might do it more often if he had an incentive." Wispy gave Masky a wink.

"Ha, I got you now, you slippery human!" yelled the guard captain as he had his claws around Geoffrey's body.

"It sure took the captain awhile to catch that guy" said one soldier behind the guard captain.

"Yeah, maybe he really is getting big" said another soldier behind the guard captain.

"What was that!?" shouted the guard captain as he looked behind at the soldiers with a glare.

"No-no-nothing sir!" exclaimed both of the soldiers at the same time in fright.

"Captain, stand down" said Masky.

"But this human insulted me" said the guard captain.

"Stand down, captain" said Masky with a sterner tone.

"Yes, commander Masky" said the guard captain as he let go of Geoffrey and stood back. Geoffrey looked towards Masky and Wispy behind him.

"Tell me what is your name, mystic knight?" asked Masky. The crowd around them began to whisper in excitement at the mention of a mystic knight.

"Geoffrey" replied Geoffrey.

"Well Geoffrey, as you may already know, you are still under captivity by us" said Masky. "But since you saved are city from this attack I think deserve to be let free under a trusted dragon who can handle you if you ever try to run away. For this reason we are allowing you to travel along with Wispy here. You will be obligated to help her in any way you can along the way."

"That doesn't sound like freedom to me" said Geoffrey.

"Either that or I will put you back in a cell again and make sure your magnetized to the ceiling constantly, your choice" said Masky. At the thought of being stuck to the ceiling almost all the time Geoffrey decided to go with Masky's deal.

"Fine, I will go along with Wispy" said Geoffrey.

"I thought as much" said Masky. "Well he's all yours Wispy, and if he does try to run away from you don't be afraid to use that blade wind of yours to paralyze him for awhile."

"Why do I have the feeling I really don't want to find out what that does" thought Geoffrey with an annoyed look. Geoffrey folded his arms and walked towards Wispy.

"Well I guess we'll be together huh?" asked Wispy. Geoffrey remained silent. "Um, is something wrong?"

"I just have a feeling that you encouraged Masky to force me to be with you" said Geoffrey.

"No, no, I really had no influence" said Wispy.

"Whatever, when are we leaving?" asked Geoffrey.

"Oh soon, I still have to visit a couple of places before we do" said Wispy.

"And how long will that take?" asked Geoffrey getting more annoyed since he can't leave until Wispy does.

"Oh the rest of today" said Wispy happily. Geoffrey looked up at the sky and saw it was around nine in the morning.

"WHY!?" thought Geoffrey as he fell down on his back.
