Chapter 3: A Little Change of Heart

Geoffrey was thrown into a cell in the dark castle dungeon by the guards that led him there. The walls were made out of stone and were carved to make it seem like a cavernous cave.  The bars of the cells were made out of steel and were made so that no creature could escape. Bones and other small objects littered the floors of the dungeon. No bed or chair was given to the cells for comfort, just four walls and a floor.

"Heh, not so tough without your sword huh?" taunted one of the dragon guards. Geoffrey only picked himself off of the floor and sat down on it while staring at the East wall in his cell.

"Not talking eh? Well I don't blame you, seeing that you got defeated by only one attack. Ha ha ha!" laughed the other dragon guard. Geoffrey remained silent despite the guard's taunts. The head of the dragon guard's came into the cell hall.
"Humph, leave him, he's not going to be talking for a long time especially after I'm through with him" said the head guard. "Get back to your normal duties you two before I have teeth for small talk!"

"Yes sir!" frighteningly replied the two guards as they quickly exited the cell hall.

"I hope you like your new home here human. Because for as long as you are here, I am going to make your life a living nightmare" said the head guard as he angrily exited the cell hall.

"If only I wasn't already living my own nightmare you may have had your way" said Geoffrey silently to himself. "Besides, no one has ever made me a prisoner before" said Geoffrey as he pointed the palm of his left hand at the bars and cause ice to fully freeze the bars. Then Geoffrey kicked the frozen bars causing them to shatter upon impact. "And nobody will ever succeed… "

Geoffrey slowly exited the now empty cell halls as he moved further into the dungeon corridors. Many guards littered the area talking amongst themselves since they were only guarding one prisoner. The hall was made out of the similar stone as in the cell hall but was brightly lit by lanterns. The hall had many splits and turns in its frame work but Geoffrey could easily see the stairs ahead. There were a bunch of barrels off to the east side of the stairs and some hay off to west side of Geoffrey.

Geoffrey wasn't sure what the barrels were used for but he guessed it carried some sort of drink for the guards. Geoffrey noticed that some guards conversing to themselves were coming towards him. Geoffrey quickly ducked into the large stack of hay to his side as the guards began to pass by him.

"…Masky is keeping another trophy for her victory" said one of the dragon guards.

"How many does she have now?" said the other dragon guard.

"I don't know a hundred maybe? She still keeps them all in the one small room next to her quarters "said the first guard.
"Wow, I wonder what she will do once that room get's full" said the second guard.

"Well I now know who to follow" thought Geoffrey. As the guards left the area, going down another corridor of the dungeon, Geoffrey got out from the hay.

"I need to get past those two guards by the stairs without anyone noticing me…but how?" thought Geoffrey. After a while Geoffrey finally had an idea as he threw a fireball at the barrels of drink with his left hand causing them to explode in a beautiful barrage of flames.

"What was that? What the heck happened?" asked the guards as they went to investigate the explosion. Every single dragon in the corridor was attracted to the exploding barrels like a magnet, including the guards by the stairs. As the guards were distracted, Geoffrey quickly made his way up the stairs and into the castle's main floor. Luckily enough Geoffrey spotted Masky as soon as he reached the top of the stairs. The floor and walls were beautifully designed in marble. Many banners seen outside of the castle decorated the walls outside. Statues of dragon knights also decorated the floor; each was individually designed to make it look exactly like the warrior from the past. Masky began to head down a hall the opposite of Geoffrey. Geoffrey slowly trailed behind so that he wouldn't be seen.  After traveling past hundreds of doors Masky finally went into a room. Geoffrey took this as a sign that the room she went into was her quarters and started to look around for the nearby armory. Geoffrey entered the door to the left of Masky's quarters and entered into the confiscated human weapons. Surprisingly there were quite a lot; ranging from swords and axes to bows and cross bows. It didn't take Geoffrey long to find his sword since it had a very familiar shape and feel to it that he could always recognize. There was a nearby window which Geoffrey used to jump out on to the roofs of the city.

"That was easier than I expected" said Geoffrey to himself as he began traversing the roof tops of the city.

----

In another part of the city, Wispy was walking the streets of the markets saying hello to all the dragons that greeted her. Eventually Wispy came across two young dragons playing with each other. One was female, who had light blue scales and a sky blue mane as well as two grey horns. The other was male, who had red scales and yellow spikes going down his spine and had similar horns as the light blue dragoness. Both of the dragons seemed to be about five years old.

"Sylaine! Firen! How are you?" said Wispy, calling out to the two young dragons. The two dragons looked towards Wispy and began to run towards her. They quickly gave Wispy a hug and started to jump around her happily as they laughed.

"Ha ha ha! I see you too are doing well" said Wispy.

"Yeah, we both have grown a lot since the last time you visited!" exclaimed Firen.

"Are parent's also showed us how to hunt for the first time. I caught myself a rabbit! Firen though only caught a fly" said Sylaine.

"Hey, what is that suppose to mean!? That fly was hard to catch!" exclaimed Firen.

"Ha ha ha! It was great to see you two again before I set off to the forests west of here" said Wispy.

"Awww, do you have to go so soon?" asked Sylaine.

"I'm afraid so" said Wispy disappointedly.

"But the next time we'll see you we will probably be drakes" said Firen.

"Well, that just gives me something to look forward to on my next visit here" said Wispy happily.

"Okay, well have a good trip Wispy!" exclaimed Firen.
"I will!" exclaimed Wispy as she began to walk towards the exit of the city. But as she did she heard an explosion come from behind her.

"Don't tell me it's more human attackers" said Wispy to herself as she quickly looked towards the direction of the explosion. But what she saw was not a group of rebellious humans but instead a small militia of the Black Shadow dragons. There was about nine of them in the small militia, each of which were black scaled as the name of their army suggests. They each wore blood red colored steel armor plating's similar in style as the guards of the city. They each had menacing looks upon their faces and none of the dragons dared to make a move on them since they knew of the dark magic that they possessed.

"Hmmm, this seems like a nice town doesn't it my dragon brothers" said the dragon with dark blue wing flaps who was obviously the leader. "I guess we just have to trash it to make way for our lord's conquest."

"Yeah!" replied the other Black Shadow dragons as their leader trashed the stores and stands of the city.

"Hey you can't do this to us!" exclaimed a middle aged light blue dragoness towards the leader of the Black Shadow militia. The Black Shadow militia leader slashed the dragoness that approached him with his claw as the dragoness fell to the ground.

"We can do whatever we want. Unless you rather have your entire city covered in darkness for eternity!" exclaimed the militia leader. Most of the civilians started to back away from the group.

"Mommy!" cried Sylaine as she ran towards her fallen mother.

"Sylaine! Come back! It's too dangerous!" exclaimed Firen as he ran after her.

"Oh, what do we have here? A couple of young dragons trying to be heroes huh? Well then why don't we give them a taste of what happens to heroes around here?" said the militia leader as he tried to attack the two young dragons with his claw.
"You stay away from them!" exclaimed Wispy as she attacked the leader with a wind blast from her mouth. But as soon as the leader was hit by Wispy's attack and was sent flying into the wall her legs became stuck to the ground by a shadowy mist made by two of the militia leader's men. Wispy struggled to free herself from the mist but to no avail.

"Not bad for an air elemental" said the militia leader. "But I am afraid that your efforts are for nothing. Seal her jaws shut as well." As he said this Wispy's jaw were clenched shut by the shadowy mist of another member of the militia. "And now you're nothing but a child before young dragoness. Show her what happens when a dragon attacks a leader of the Black Dragon's militias!" As he said this, all of the dragons breathed fire towards Wispy; the flames spinned together with each other to form a large barrage of flames. The flames exploded in a spectacle of flames when they hit their target seeming to destroy everything behind it. The Black dragon militia laughed at their accomplishment as the other dragons moaned in fear.

As the smoke cleared however something unexpected occurred. The dragons that were hit by the attack were still alright all thanks to a protective shield that was made by Geoffrey who had stepped in front of the attack before it hit. The barrier held the fireballs in place as if he had stopped time.

"What is this?" asked the militia leader surprised by the turn of events. Geoffrey did a horizontal slicing motion with his hand which sent the fireballs aiming directly at each of the Black Shadow dragons. The spell Wispy was under vanished as she stood up normally again.

"I don't know who you are but I will not allow you to hurt the innocent like that!" exclaimed Geoffrey as he took a battle stance with his sword. Wispy began to stare at Geoffrey in amazement at his powers.

"Isn't he the same human that attacked earlier? And how can he use magic? Humans lost that art a thousand years ago. Who is this man?" thought Wispy to herself.
This is the third chapter of my epic series. :D Well in this chapter, Geoffrey escapes his imprisonment and gets his sword back while Wispy encounters some dark foes that want to bring harm to the city.
